U16 Skipjacks forward Clark Kerner has committed to play college hockey for the UMASS-Lowell Riverhawks of Hockey East.  Kerner, a 2nd year u16 forward for the Skipjacks, is leading the team in scoring with 20 goals, 26 assists, and ranks 3rd in the USPHL U16 division.  The Overland Park, KS native has come a long way the last 2 years with Skipjacks and has developed into a full player, contributing in all areas of the game.

Skipjacks U16 Head Coach Jared Kersner remarked:  “Our staff is very proud of Clark for the work he has put in since becoming a part of our program, and now he is realizing the reward of that work.  The UMASS-Lowell staff is one of the best in the country, and Kerner is a great commitment for their program, we couldn’t be happier.  Clark is a great offensive talent and competes in all areas of the rink, it will be exciting to continue to help him develop along his journey.”

“I visited the UMASS-Lowell campus and the coaching staff this season while we were playing in the Lowell area.  It was an unbelievable campus, and the staff is so knowledgeable and supportive.    I have the luxury of playing in the USPHL, and was able to really do my homework on colleges.  The Skipjacks staff helped me coordinate the process, and I’ve had an opportunity to become a completely different player since being here.  The Riverhawks have a great hockey atmosphere and town to play in, I’m looking forward to continuing my development and preparing for my college career”, commented Kerner.

Kerner looks to lead the Skipjacks U16 down the home stretch and into the USPHL playoffs.  The Skipjacks face the New Jersey Rockets in USPHL regular season action at home in York, PA on February 3rd and 4th.
